Can you give us a short introduction of yourself?

My name is Darcy Glover. I have lived in Australia my whole life, growing up in rural south-west Greater Sydney. The first 3 years of my professional career was as a game developer working in Unity, but now I have decided to try something new and challenge myself by learning skills and software in an industry which is mostly unfamiliar to me. In 2024, my fiancé and I bought and moved into our first home with our cat.

I’m known for my passion for progress and unwavering discipline, I thrive on taking action rather than dwelling on extensive planning sessions. This drive spills over into my love for CrossFit, where you’ll often find me pushing boundaries and achieving new feats at the gym. For both working as a Mendix Tech lead and CrossFit, it’s the diversity that keeps me hooked—it’s a realm where there’s always room for improvement. Beyond the barbells and sweat, I the love sense of community that comes with it. Meeting new people, forging meaningful connections, and being part of something bigger is what truly energizes me.

What is your biggest strength, and how will it benefit CAPE and our customers?

When developing a game, the core principle to keep in mind is to make it as fun and enjoyable for your players as possible. Every feature you add, even down to small dialogue boxes or how the main menu feels to use, must be carefully measured and considered to ensure quality. By bringing this attention to minutia to every project I work on, I can ensure that your end-users enjoy their experience as much as possible, leading to customer retention, employee satisfaction, and driving growth and innovation in your company.

Why CAPE?

The culture here is great. From the get-go it has felt like I’m working with friends, rather than co-workers. My previous job set a gold standard for company culture, and CAPE has definitively met that standard. The team is welcoming, friendly, and considerate, and there has been no shortage of advice and training to help me hit the ground running. I really feel like I’m in a place where I can leverage my skills to do amazing work, and I’m excited to continue to grow my skills and deliver great content for our clients.

How do you like to spend your time outside of work?

I love spending time with my fiancé, family, and friends! We like to play board games, organise barbeques and dinners, and we love a good cheese board. I play tabletop games on the regular with my close friends, playing games like Dungeons and Dragons, Force and Destiny and Nimble, as both a player and a Game Master. I also love brewing my own alcohol, of which I mainly brew mead (wine made from honey instead of grapes), but have tried my hand at beer, and I’d love to get into rum at some point. I fill the rest of my time by watching tv/movies with my fiancé, playing video games, and working on my side-projects in Unity and Mendix.
